Census ACS Profile: Seniors / Older Population

This table from the U.S. Census American Community Survey provides data for the senior or elderly population as well as the total population for each CI:Now county. It includes race/ethnicity, educational attainment, income and poverty status, veteran status, employment status, household type and relationship of household members to the head of household, responsibility for caring for grandchildren, place of birth, residence one year ago, language spoken at home, home ownership or renting, housing cost, and public assistance.

The data are five-year estimates for the period of 2010-2014. Five-year estimates are needed because the survey sample size is small and thus the margins of error very wide. Combining data from five survey years makes that margin of error much narrower.
